Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The substance is not classified as flammable in contact with water based on the chemical structure and the experience in handling / use which shows that the substance does not react with water.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Practical experience in manufacture and handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures.
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
25 March 2021
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
120 s
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Test NumberTime of burning [s]Comments
Test-1-After the ignition the sample melted and burned only in the place of applying the flame of burner. The burning did not propagate.
Result: NEGATIVE
Test-2-
Test-3-
Interpretation of results:
other: Not classified (CLP Regulation EC no. 1272/2008)
Remarks:
EU criteria
Conclusions:
After applying the flame to the test item, it melt but did not ignite. Thus the test item is not flammable according to EU A.10
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was determined using EU Method A.10 under GLP conditions. The substance was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate, and a hot flame was applied to one end of the powder train for up to 2 minutes. The sample melted but did not ignite. The same happened at 30, 60 or 120s application. Therefore, the test item was found to be not flammable according to test A.10 criteria.

Description of key information

Flammability: Key study. Method according to EU Method A.10, GLP Study. After applying the flame, the sample melted but did not ignite. Therefore, the test item was found to be not flammable according to test A.10 criteria.

Pyrophoric properties: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available). Practical experience in manufacture and handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures.

Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): The substance is not classified as flammable in contact with water based on the chemical structure and the experience in handling / use which shows that the substance does not react with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
