The value of flash point was corrected due to the deviation of the thermometer and atmospheric pressure:

C – determined flash point after including a thermometer deviation = 58.8°C;

p – ambient barometric pressure = 102.5 kPa.

T = C + 0.25 (101.3 – p) = 58.8ºC + 0.25(101.3 kPa – 102.5 kPa) = 58.5ºC

Executive summary:

In accordance with GLP study and EU A.9 method, the determination of flash point was carried out. The flash point of the test item was determined by closed-cup method and Pensky-Martens apparatus. A preliminary test was performed applying the ignition source at 3 °C temperature intervals from the ambient temperature. The next tests (two main tests) were performed applying the ignition source at 1 °C intervals beginning from the temperature lower by 18 -20°C than the flash point obtained in the preliminary test. The flash point value obtained was 59.0ºC in both test 1 and test 2. After correction due to deviation of the thermometer and atmospheric pressure the final flash point of the test item was determined to be 58.5 ± 1.2ºC at 101.3 kPa.
