Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Daltolac R 159 is a yellow viscous liquid. It has a melting point of 0-4.3 °C and was observed to decompose at 208°C, before a boiling point could be determined, and has a relative density of 1.074 and a vapour pressure 8.37 * 10-03 Pa at 20 °C (LAUS, 2010).

The water-octanol partition coefficient (log Kow) was determined to be = 3.13 (QSAR calculation . The water solubility of Daltolac R159 is determined to be 225 g/L at 20°C and pH 7 (Brixham, Environmental laboratory, 2010). The substance is not surface active (surface activity of a 1.2 mg/L aqueous solution at 20°C is 72.0 mN/m) and Daltolac R 159 does not undergo auto-ignition till above 352°C at 101.3 kPa, the flashpoint was determined at 160° C at 101.3 kPa (Chilworth technology limited, 2009).

Based on its structural properties, i.e. the oxidation state of constituting atoms, and experience in manufacture and handling, flammability, explosive and oxidizing properties are not expected for Daltolac R159. Therefore classification of the substance as flammable, explosive or oxidizing is not warranted in accordance with EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

The data for dissociation constant were obtained based on read-across candidate Diaminotoluene, propoxylated. The QSAR predicted values of pKa for lowest- and highest-molecular weight homologues of this UVCB mixture range from 1.2 to 8.7 (West, 2010).

Also based on values of structural analogue Diaminotoluene, propoxylated, the viscosity was determined to be1401000 mPa s at 20ºC (Currenta, 2009).

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII/IX and/or with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI and/or the REACH Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (chapter R7.A), studies on particle size distribution, stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products, do not need to be conducted.
