Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Feb. 2018 - Apr. 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
preliminary test only
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EU Method A.24 (Partition Coefficient - HPLC Method)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Remarks on result:
not determinable
Remarks:
not soluble in organic solvent-water mixes

In a preliminary feasibility test, the test item could not be dissolved in any of the organic solvent-water mixes.

The only possibility to solve the test object was the use of pure THF, with the addition of 25 % water the test object precipitated again.

An absorption, higher than the blank, was recorded with UV-detector and without a column, but with a C18 column, or with a RI detector (without and with column), no signal could be assigned to the test item.

Conclusions:
The substance has potential to bioaccumulate in the environment, according to CLP classification criteria for aquatic chronic toxicity (log Kow expected >>4).
Executive summary:

In a non-GLP pre-test, designed to determine suitable HPLC conditions, the test item could NOT be dissolved in any of the organic solvent (methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile, isopropanol, THF) / water mixtures tested, as recommended by OECD 117/EU A24 guideline.

The determination of partition coefficient of the test substance was therefore not possible.

Due to very low water solubility, a high logPow value is considered, as a worst-case.

Description of key information

Experimental determination not feasible.

High log Kow considered (worst-case for bioaccumulation potential).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A fully reliable preliminary test showed that the determination was not experimentally feasible, as the test item is not soluble in organic solvents/water mixes. It is considered as a key study.
