Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Appearance

The test material was observed to be a dark brown extremely viscous liquid.

Melting/freezing point

The melting temperature of the test item was determined to be over the range 26 to 51 °C (299 to 324 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).

Boiling point

The test item was determined to decompose from approximately 211 °C (484 K) at 98 kPa (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

Relative density

The density of the test item was determined to be 927 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 1.0 °C and the relative density was reported as 0.928 (OECD 109 and EU Method A.3).

Granulometry

The substance is not marketed or used in a solid or granular form and, in accordance with REACH section 7.14, column 2, determination of particle size is not required.

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 7.32 x 10E-02 Pa at 25 °C (298 K) and 1.23 Pa at 70 °C (343K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined to be greater than 1.0 x 10E10 with a Log10 Pow of > 10.0 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).

Water solubility

Water solubility of the test item was determined by total organic carbon to be 1.43 x 10E-03 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. The result was based on a nominal loading rate of 0.1 g/L (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

Surface tension

The surface tension of solutions prepared at nominally 1.1 g/L of test item in water and diluted to 90 % saturation was determined to be 67.5 ± 0.5 mN/m at 21.5 ± 0.5 °C. The substance was not considered to be surface-active (OECD 115 and EU Method A.5).

Flash point

The flash point of the test item was determined to be 152 ± 2 °C using the closed cup equilibrium method (EU Method A.9).

Auto-ignition temperature

The test item was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 382 ± 5 °C (EU Method A.15).

Flammability

The test item is a viscous liquid and, in line with ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 5.0; December 2016), relevant properties for classification of the substance as flammable are the determined flash point and boiling point. Further experimental investigation of flammability is therefore not required.

Explosive properties

The result for explosive properties was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.14).

Oxidising properties

The result for oxidising properties was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.21).
