Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A freshwater algal toxicity test with Selenastrum capricornutum exposed to the test material and conducted under GLPs and following OECD TG 201 resulted in a 72-hour growth rate EC50 (ErC50) and NOEC of 0.435 and 0.05 mg/L, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.435 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.05 mg/L

Additional information

Two freshwater algal studies with Selenastrum capricornutum were available for the test material, with only one considered reliable for assessment for this endpoint. One study was conducted for 72 -hours under GLPs and following OECD Test Guideline 201. The study was assigned a Klimisch score of two and considered the key study for this endpoint. The study concluded that the 72-hour growth rate EC50 (ErC50) and NOEC was 0.435 and 0.05 mg/L, respectively and considered the key parameters for this endpoint.

The second study (supporting study) was conducted for 144 hours and followed standard U.S. EPA test guidelines, but did not report any 72 -hour biological observations (cell counts) nor report any 72 -hour endpoint values; therefore, this study was assigned a Klimisch score of 3 since no 72 -hour growth rate endpoints could be determined.
