Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials

Description of key information

Aluminium vanadium tetraoxide is not oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

Aluminium vanadium tetraoxide does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermically with combustible material (cf. Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.13, Column 2).

Forms of vanadium a similar oxygen content (i.e. V2O5) are not oxidising: Read-across from another form of vanadium with a similar oxygen content (i.e. V2O5 with an oxygen content of 44 %) to aluminium vanadium tetraoxide indicates that aluminium vanadium tetraoxide (oxygen content of 45 %) does not have any oxidising potential.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Aluminium vanadium tetraoxide does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS, EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14 or Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
