Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Since no studies assessing the biodegradability of 5-[C11-12 (branched) alkyl]-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 Grouping of substances, a read-across to the structurally related source substance Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl, oxime, branched (CAS 174333-80-3) was conducted. The read across justification document is attached to chapter 13.

The inherent biodegradation study with the source substance was performed according to GLP and OECD guideline 302C using non-adapted activated sludge as inoculum (Seyfried 2007). The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of the test substance in the test media was in the normal range found for the inoculum controls. Thus, the test substance was not biodegradable under the test conditions within 28 days.

In addition, several screening tests for Phenol, dodecyl-, branched (CAS 121158-58-5) are available in the respective REACH dossier published in the ECHA database (see table 2). In general, these tests show that Phenol, dodecyl-, branched is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Table 2: Biodegradation test results for Phenol, dodecyl-, branched based on data from the respective REACh dossier.
