Conclusion on classification

Short-term toxicity results for Daphnia and algae are available for the substance. The 48h-EC50 value to Daphnia magna was 0.76 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations in freshly prepared test solutions. The ErC50 for algae is 0.77 mg/L based on geometric mean measured test concentrations. Since the acute EC50 values are ≤ 1 mg/L, the substance needs to be classified as Acute Cat. 1 (H400) according to EU CLP (1272/2008/EC and its amendments: Table 4.1.0; a). The only available chronic value is the EC10 of algae being 0.28 mg/L. According to EU CLP Figure 4.1.1, the chronic classification has to be determined based on this chronic value according to Table 4.1.0, (b) ii (as the substance is readily biodegradable) and based on the available EC50 value for Daphnia and environmental fate data according to Table 4.1.0, (b) iii. The most stringent outcome should be leading:

- As the chronic value is > 0.1 but ≤ 1 mg/L, the substance needs to be classified as Chronic Cat. 3 based on this available chronic value.

- As the substance has a log Kow < 4 and is readily biodegradable, the substance does not need to be classified based on the available EC50 value for Daphnia magna.

Overall, it can be concluded that the substance needs to be classified for environmental hazards as Acute Cat. 1 (H400) and Chronic Cat. 3 (H412) according to EU CLP (1272/2008/EC and its amendments).

GHS: The same classification applies as is derived for EU CLP.
