Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Surface Tension: Substance surface active based on structural assessment, Firmenich SA 2015

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex VII, column 2 section 7.6 the study does not need to be conducted if the water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 20°C. The substance constituents water solubility do not exceed 1 mg/L at 20°C. Furthermore, whilst the surface activity of the substance can be predicted (substance surface tension < 60 mN/m at 20°C) under section 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI: testing is not technically feasible since the OECD TG 115 test method requires the test substance to be stable (against hydrolysis or oxidation) under the conditions of the test. The test substance is reactive in aqueous solution inhibiting surface tension measurement. According to ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment (Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance, R.7.1.6, July 2015) the study does not need to be conducted.
