RESULT

The requirements for repeatability of the DIN standard are stated as follows: Three lowest values of the main study have to lie within a range of 10 K (if auto ignition temperature is below 300 °C) respectively 20 K (if auto ignition temperature is above 300 °C).

The lowest value of the auto ignition temperature is 455 °C. This value was determined using 4 drops test item. The test item showed auto ignition after 13 seconds. The auto ignition temperature (result of determination) is the lowest value from the lowest values of the three experiments, rounded down to a whole multiple of 5 °C. Therefore, the auto ignition temperature is stated as 455 °C.

Validity:

In the DIN, the following limits are applied to the range of lowest values which may be used for evaluation:

The three lowest values of the main study lay within a range of 10 K (as required for auto ignition temperatures above 300 °C and one performer). The largest difference between measured ignition temperatures was 6 K.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Under the test conditions, the auto-ignition temperature of the test item PI2080 was determined to be 455°C.
Executive summary:

This study was performed in order to determine the auto ignition temperature of PI2080 according to the EU-Method A.15 and DIN 51794 standard. The auto ignition temperature is the lowest temperature at which the test item will spontaneously ignite in a normal atmosphere without an external source of ignition such as flame of spark.

The lowest value of the auto-ignition temperature was 455°C. This value was determined using 4 drops test item. The test item showed auto-ignition after 13 seconds. The auto-ignition temperature (result of determination) was the lowest value from the lowest values of the three experiments, rounded down to a whole multiple of 5°C. Therefore, the auto-ignition temperature is stated as 230°C.

The acceptable range which is demanded in the DIN standard was fulfilled.
