Description of key information

The oxidising potential of the test substance, FRET 08-0338, was assessed according to EU Method A.21 using a prediction method. From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that the test substance would not have oxidising properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

An oxidizing liquid may be defined as a liquid substance or mixture which, while in itself is not necessarily combustible may, generally by yielding oxygen, cause or contribute to the combustion of other material. For organic substances or mixtures, the classification procedure need not apply if the substance or mixture does not contain oxygen, fluorine or chlorine or, if these elements are present but are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. From an examination of the chemical structure of the test substance, it was confirmed that it did contain oxygen, but only chemically bonded to carbon and hydrogen. Consequently, the test substance would not be expected to possess oxidising properties and is therefore not classified for oxidising properties.
