Description of key information

The substance was assessed for flammability according to EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids)) by measuring the burning rate of the substance prepared as a pile of set dimensions. During the preliminary test the pile melted and failed to ignite during the two minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied. The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test and the test substance was considered not to be highly flammable as it failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.

Furthermore, based on the molecular structure, melting point and the handling experience in air and water, there is no indication that the substance is self-heating or reactive to air and water.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the inability to ignite a flame when measuring the burning rate of the substance prepared as a pile of set dimensions, the molecular structure, melting point and the handling experience in air and water, the substance does not have to be classified for flammability according to EU CLP (EC No. 1272/2008) and its amendments.
