Additional information

Exponentially growing cultures of Scenedesmus subspicatus were exposed in a static test to different concentrations of the test item in ISO-medium for 72 hours according to OECD Guideline 201 (RCC Notox BV 1993h).

The measured test concentrations were 0.005, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.10, 0.22 and 0.46 mg/L based on analysis of samples taken at the start of the main test. During the exposure period the actual concentration remained > 80 % of the initial concentrations. The 72-hour EC50 for growth inhibition (EBC50: 0-72 h) was 0.061 mg/L with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from 0.024 to 0.133 mg/L. The 72 -hour EC50 for growth rate reduction (ERC50: 0-72 h) was 0.087 mg/L with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from 0.077 to 0.099 mg/L. The NOEC was 0.02 mg/L for both growth inhibition (NOEBC) and growth rate reduction (NOERC).
