Administrative data

First-aid measures

GENERAL ADVICE

Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Move out of dangerous area.

INHALATION

Remove the person to a well-ventilated area. Obtain first aid or medical assistance.

INGESTION

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

If conscious, give large amounts of water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.

SKIN CONTACT & ABSORPTION

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Consult a physician.

EYE

Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophthalmologist.

PROTECTION OF FIRST-AIDERS

Use personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Fire-fighting measures

CONDITIONS OF FLAMMABILITY

Non-flammable or combustible

SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Do not use water jet, as this will spread the fire.

SPECIAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIREFIGHTERS

Wear self-contained, approved breathing apparatus and full protective clothing, including eye protection and boots.

HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS

Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides, Niobium oxid.

CONDITIONS OF EXPLOSIVITY

Non-explosive

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERCENCY PROCEDURES

Advice for non-emergency personnel: Avoid substance contact. Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear respiratory protection. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Wear personal protection.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP

Pick up and arrange disposal without creating dust. Sweep up and shovel. Absorb spillage to prevent material damage. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed.

STORAGE

Keep in original container and tightly close in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING AND STORAGE

Use suitable gloves and goggles when handling the material. In case of large amounts, protective clothing may be used.

Store in corrosive resistant container with a resistant inner liner.

DNEL (route: Long term dermal; effects: Systemic; population: workers): 0.83 mg/kg bw/day

DNEL (route: long term inhalation; effects: systemic; population: general): 0.96 mg/m3

DNEL (route: long term dermal; effects: systemic; population: general): 0.42 mg/kg bw/day

DNEL (route: long term oral; effects: systemic; population: general): 0.42 mg/kg bw/day

DNEL (route: acute oral; effects: systemic; population: general): 3 mg/kg bw/day

PNEC aqua (freshwater): 0.0211 mg/L

PNEC aqua (marine water): 0.00211 mg/L

PNEC aqua (intermittent releases): 0.211 mg/L

PNEC STP: 10 mg/L

2. EXPOSURE CONTROL

2.1. Appropriate engineering controls

Provide adequate ventilation.

2.2. Personal protective equipment

2.2.1. Respiratory Protection.

Wear suitable respirator if exposure level exceeds or may exceed the DNEL.

2.2.2. Hand Protection

Wear gloves. Inspect gloves before use. Ensure gloves are suitable for the task. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and break through time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Remove gloves with care avoiding skin contamination. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices.

2.2.3. Eye Protection

Wear safety goggles to protect eyes from dust. Wear eye glasses with side protection according to EN 166.

2.2.4. General hygiene considerations

Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.

2.3. Control of environmental exposure

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity

Unreactive under normal conditions.

2. Chemical stability

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

3. Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerization: Hazardous polymerization does not occur.

Hazardous reactions: None under normal processing.

4. Conditions to avoid

Incompatible products; avoid dust formation; keep away from open flames; exposure to moisture.

5. Incompatible materials

Oxidizing agents.

6. Hazardous decomposition products

Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides, niobium oxide

Disposal considerations

1. Waste treatment methods

1.1. Waste treatment options

Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Consult the appropriate local waste disposal expert about waste disposal. Do not allow uncontrolled discharge of product into the environment.

1.2. Packaging

Packs that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents. Consult the appropriate local waste disposal expert about waste disposal.
