Description of key information

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water (Log Kow) of FC-43 was determined to be 6.1 at 23 °C according to US EPA OPPTS 830.7550 (Partition Coefficient, n-octanol / H2O, Shake Flask Method).

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of FC-43 was measured based on U.S EPA guidance document OPPTS 830.7550 “Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/Water), Shake Flask Method”, and was conducted under GLP. Duplicate samples of FC-43 were shaken in octanol/water mixture ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1 at 23 °C. The aqueous and n-octanol phases were separated and analyzed using Purge and Trap and Gas Chromatography/Mass spectrometry. FC-43 had a water solubility of <0.0561 ng/mL determined in a previous study. Ten water aliquots had FC-43 concentrations less than the LOQ of 0.0552 ng/mL. A value equivalent to one-half the LOQ (0.0276 ng/mL) was used to determine the average FC-43 concentration in water and to calculate Kow. The log Kow of FC-43 was determined to be 6.1 at 23°C.
