Thermal stability

Two DSC-measurements in closed crucibles (glass crucible in high pressure crucible) with the test item showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 80 – 115 °C and an exothermal effect in the temperature range of 315 - 365 °C with a maximum energy of 323 J/g. Up to the final temperature (500 °C) no further endothermal or exothermal effect was observed.

Executive summary:

A study according to Regulation (EC) 440/2008 Method A.14 was performed to determine the explosive properties of the test item. As a preliminary test the thermal stability of the test item was determined with the differential scanning calorimetry DSC. Two DSC-measurements in closed crucibles (glass crucible in high pressure crucible) with the test item showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 80 – 115 °C and an exothermal effect in the temperature range of 315 - 365 °C with a maximum energy of 323 J/g. Up to the final temperature (500 °C) no further endothermal or exothermal effect was observed. As the heat of decomposition of the test item was below 500 J/g no main test on explosive properties was performed.
