Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
12 December 2011 to 09 March 2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(2008)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(1995)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7840 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(1998)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Test substance was stirred with double-distilled water at a 1:2 (w/v) ratio for 17 hours followed by HPLC analysis of the aqueous phase. An additional water solubility test at a 1:1 (w/v) ratio was performed followed by visual observation.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Identification FAT 40854/A TE
Description Reddish-brown powder (determined at NOTOX)
Batch TZ 5719 / BOP 02-11
Content 46.2 % (4 main constituents)
Test substance storage: At room temperature in the dark
Stability under storage conditions: Stable
Expiry date: 01 April 2016
Water solubility:
> 500 g/L
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.9
Remarks on result:
other: The actual content of test substance dissolved in the water sample was 537 g/L. It demonstrated that the test substance was completely dissolved in the water sample at the 1:2 (w/v) ratio.
Details on results:
It was found that the test substance in water at the 1:1 (w/v) ratio formed a viscous paste, which could not be stirred adequately (i.e. not all test substance particles were in contact with the liquid phase).
Conclusions:
The water solubility of FAT 40854/A at 20 °C and pH 5.9 is ≥500 g/L.

Executive summary:

In a GLP-compliant study, the water solubility of FAT 40854/A was determined according to EU method A.6 and OECD guideline 105 using flask method. Based on the study results, the water solubility of FAT 40854/A at 20 °C and pH 5.9 is ≥500 g/L.
