Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

Results

No exothermic effect of the test substance was observed. It demonstrated that the test substance is “not a self-heating substance”. According to the guideline, no further testing was required.

After the experiment, the test substance had turned into a brown/black residue. It indicated that the test substance had been molten, decomposed and/or reacted during the experiment.

Conclusions:
The self-heating temperature of Vinasses was determined by Test 1 of the Modified Bowes-Cameron Cage test.

Based on the results obtained, the test substance is considered “not a self-heating substance”.

Description of key information

Auto-ignition temperature: not applicable.
Not a self-heating substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For dry matter of Vinasses auto flammability was derived from a test with Vinasses, residue of fermentation containing biomass of Corynebacterium glutamicum, which was performed according to UN RTDG Test N.4. Since all Vinasses subgroups are very similar in composition, auto flammability is as well very similar.

Vinasses in form of suspension and paste are composed of dry matter of Vinasses and water, thus, a self-heating property is not expected.
