Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

72h EC50 (Desmodesmus subspicatus, growth rate) > 20 mg/L (nominal, EU Method C.3)
72h EC10 (Desmodesmus subspicatus, growth rate) = 5.4 mg/L (nominal, EU Method C.3)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
20 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
5.4 mg/L

Additional information

For C12 -13 alkylsulfates (CAS 1231880 -35 -5) no test on algae is available. Thus a read-across is performed to the comparable mixture C12 -14 alkylsulfates (CAS 85586 -07 -8). In this study toxicity of the C12-14 mixture on aquatic algae was investigated in a study with Desmodesmus subspicatus according to EU Method C.3 (Scholz, Elementis, 1995). The GLP-study resulted in an EC50 (72 h)-value for growth rate of > 20 mg/L as a-WAS. The corresponding NOEC (72 h) for growth rate was 0.6 mg/L as a-WAS. This test is regarded as key study.
