First-aid measures

Pay attention to self-protection.

Remove victims from hazardous area.

Immediately remove soiled or soaked clothing and remove it to a safe distance.

Keep victim warm, in a stabilized position and covered.

Do not leave victims unattended.

If the casualty is unconscious: Place the victim in the recovery position.

In case of inhalation:

Inhalation is possible if aerosols, mists, dusts, or smoke form.

Move victims into fresh air.

If the causality is no breathing perform mouth to mouth resuscitation, notify emergency physician immediately.

Skin contact:

Wash off immediately affected area immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

If symptoms persist: consult a physician for treatment.

Eye contact:

With eye held open, thoroughly rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes.

In case of discomfort: consult an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion:

Rinse out mouth.

Consult a physician immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

The initial focus is only on the local action, characterized by quickly progressing deep tissue damage.

Coughing is a symptom of respiratory tract after inhalation of dusts or smoke from caustic solids.

In the eye, caustic dusts or smoke cause, depending on the intensity of exposure, severe irritation, destruction, and ablation of the epithelium of the conjunctiva and cornea, corneal clouding, edema and ulcerations.

Danger! Possible loss of eyesight!

Superficial irritations and damage up to ulcerations and scarring develop on the skin.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

All extinguishing substances suitable.

Water, spray water, CO2, extinguishing powder, specific foam.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

In the case of fire, the following hazardous smoke fumes may be produced:

Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide - nitrogen oxides (NOx) – hydrogen chloride (HCl)

Advice for firefighters:

Wear personal protective equipment.

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Fire residues should be disposed in accordance with the regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear personal protective equipment.

Keep unauthorized persons away.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow the product into the following compartments: soil, stretches of water, drainage systems.

In case of pollution, inform competent authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Pick up mechanically.

Collect in suitable containers.

Waste to be packed like clean product and to be labelled.

Identification label on packages not to be removed until recycling.

Observe regulation on prevention of water pollution (check, dam up, cover up).

Handling and storage

Precautions for self handling:

Handle and transfer products in closed systems only (gas displacement device).

Ensure that apparatus and pipelines are free from leaks.

Dedicated loading/unloading stations are required.

Avoid residues of products on the containers.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Ensure suitable suction/aeration at the work place and with operational machinery (gas scrubber for example).

Keep away from sources of ignition – No smoking.

Further information: VDI 2263 "Dust fires and dust explosions; dangers, evaluation, preventive measures.”

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Keep containers in a dry and dark place in its original packaging, tightly closed.

Label according to the regulations.

Specific end of use(s):

Follow usual safety precautions while handling.

If dust occurs: dust mask with P2 particle filter size.

Note time limit for wearing respiratory protective equipment.

Hand protection:

Wear gloves

Brief contact only:

Glove material: rubber, Nitril for example, material thickness: minimum 0.11 mm

Accidental release measures:

Glove material: Nitril/Chloroprene for example, material thickness: minimum 0.65 mm

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166.

Accidental release measures or when handling larger quantities: basket-shaped glasses".

Skin and body protection:

Light weight protective clothing.

Skin and body protection:

Use lab protective clothing.

Accidental release measures:

Cloth specific for chemical products.

Hygiene measures:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

No eating, drinking, smoking or snuffing tobacco at work.

Wash face and/or hands before break and end of work.

Protective measures:

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.

It should be defined in the work place in the form of a risk analysis.

All precautions must be strictly observed.

Regular safety training is a must.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

No dangerous reactivity known.

Chemical stability:

Easily hydrolysable in contact with water.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

No dangerous reaction are known to occur with correct handling and storage.

Conditions to avoid:
