Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Full details of these endpoints are provided in the IUCLID dossier and are considered reliable.

These data have been used as a starting point for the following assessment of endpoints that have not been covered by laboratory testing, either due to such endpoints being inappropriate (waivers requested) or where assessment is possible based on the structure and properties (assessment reports). The substance is in liquid form at ambient temperature with a low vapour pressure (<1 Pa), thus does not rapidly partitioning to air. It has a log Kow of 5.3 and a correspondingly low water solubility (accurately determined in a recent study as approximately 1.6 mg/L) which makes it technically extremely difficult to test for the surface tension and dissociation constant. Classification as flammable does not apply. As it does not contain high energy bonds associated with nitrogen groups, classification as explosive does not apply in common with other aldehydes. The lack of functional groups to impart oxidising properties means it is not classifiable as oxidising. It is stable in common solvents.
