Suitable extinguishing media: The product itself does not burn. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment e.g.: Dry powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Water spray jet.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: Storng water jet.

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, its combustion products, or released gases: In the enevt of fire the following can be released. Metallic oxides.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Further information: Collect contamined fire extinguishing water separately. Do not discharge into the drain/surface waters/groundwater.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Refer to protective measures listed in section handling and storage and section exposure controls/personal protection in this GSU. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid dust formation. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater. Avoid dust formation.

Methods for cleaning up: Use mechanical handling equipment. Send in suitable containers for recovery or disposal. Section disposal considerations.

Handling and storage

HANDLING:

for this particular job must be worn.

TECHNICAL MEASURES/PRECAUTIONS: Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary).

Exposure controls / personal protection

All operations are IPPC-compliant (implementing of the Best Available Techniques - BREF-NFM)

Procedures and technical measures like sumps containment are provided under leaching tanks and filters in order to collect any accidental spillage. Measures are taken to avoid or minimize emissions outside the plant.

Inhalation & dermal exposures are controlled and prevented by an integrated "Management system" including i.e.:

Hygiene behavior: washing hands, changing clothes, no eating / no smoking on the workplace

Information - training of workers and contractors

Wear of protective equipment and  clothing (e.g. P3 masks, gloves, glasses)

Cleaning of process equipment and workshop

Limited personnel presence in the stockpiling and process zones

Continuous medical follow-up of individuals including Bio-monitoring of exposure & health effects

All tanks, settlers, filters are provided with sufficient sump containment capacity. There are special procedures for cleaning and maintenance. No release to water without "waste-water-treatment"-unit.

Waste related measures are taken to ensure adequate control of risk at the different life cycle stages of the intermediate.  Waste generated at the process stage are recycled internally when possible and final wastes are disposed of as hazardous waste in hazardous waste landfills or treated in authorized waste treatment plants according to the national and local waste management regulations. More information on the waste management is presented in IUCLID section 3.7.
