LC50 values were calculated according to Litchfield and Wilcoxon ((1949).  A simplified method of evaluating dose-effect experiments. J. Pharmacol.  Exp. Ther. 96, 99-113, ) or in case of a steep concentration-effect  relationship by estimating using a log/probit plot.
