Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
09 Feb 2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

There was only an endothermic effect at about 200 °C. After the measurement the wire-mesh basket was empty.

Validity criteria for the measurement of the auto flammability:

The study was performed according to test procedure A. 16 and DIN 51794. However, a details of the results (such as test temperatures, results concerning ignition, corresponding time-lags) are not stated. Thus, the values obtained by this study may be considered as being valid with restrictions.

Conclusions:
Fluocortolon-21-Valerat does not undergo spontaneous combustion when tested according to EC A.16.
Executive summary:

The test was performed as stipulated in EC Test Procedure A.16 'Relative self-ignition temperature for solids'.

A certain volume of the substance under test was placed in an oven at room temperature; the temperature/time curve relating to conditions in the centre of the sample was recorded while the temperature of the oven was increased to 400 °C, at a rate of 0.5 K/min. For the purpose of this test, the temperature of the oven at which the sample temperature reached 400 °C by self-heating is called the self-ignition temperature.

There was only an endothermic effect at about 200 °C. After the measurement the wire-mesh basket was empty.

Fluocortolon-21-Valerat does not undergo spontaneous combustion when tested according to EC A.16.

Description of key information

Fluocortolon-21-Valerat does not undergo spontaneous combustion when tested according to EC A.16 and accordingly there is no self-ignition temperature up to 400 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
