Description of key information

The log Koc for Isotianil in four different soil types (OECD soil type 2-5) ranged from 3.0 - 3.6 and thus indicates a strong adsorption potential of the test material.

One study on adsorption/desorption for Isotianil is available. This study (Miner & Lentz, 2005 with amendment by Miner, 2007) was conducted according to OECD 106 (Adsorption – Desorption using a Batch Equilibrium Method). The adsorption and desorption was examined on four different soils (Soil A: regosal, sand; Soil B: andsol, loamy; Soil C: grey lowland soil, loam; Soil D: grey lowland soil, silty clay) with five concentrations of the test substance at 25 °C. Average adsorption coefficients (Kd) of 8.9 – 76.2 L/kg were calculated for the four soils. Based on the organic carbon content of the soils the Koc ranges from 1065 to 4425 L/kg, which results in a log Koc of 3 - 3.6. These results indicate that the test material has a strong potential to adsorb to soil.
