Administrative data

Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Justification for type of information:
The substance is a solid. According to the test method for Flash Point, Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Part 1, A9, 1.1, the test is only applicable to liquid substances. The Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.7A, Endpoint Specific Guidance, July 2017, R.7.1.9.1, states that testing for flash point should only be conducted on liquids. Previous guidance on notifications under Directive 67/548/EEC (Technical Guidance for the Completion of a Summary Notification Dossier for a New Chemical Substance Utilising the SNIF Base-Set and Levels 1 and 2, version February 2004, 3.0.90) also indicated that testing of the flash point for low melting point solids (<100°C) was required only if needed for safe handling. The substance has a melting point >100°C, and it is not used in the molten state. As a result, and in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VII, introduction, last paragraph, testing has not been performed as it is considered unnecessary.
