Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable: 0% in 28 d (OECD 302C)

Bioaccumulation: BCF = 159 (OECD 305)

Aquatic short-term toxicity

96 h, LC50 (Brachydanio rerio): 1.1 mg/L (EU method C.1)

48 h, EL50 (Daphnia magna): 2.7 mg/L (EU method C.2)

72 h, ErL50 (Desmodesmus subspicatus): 36.3 mg/L (OECD 201)

Aquatic long-term toxicity

34d, NOEC (Danio rerio): 0.00427 mg/L (OECD 210)

21 d, NOEL (Daphnia magna): 0.189 mg/L (OECD 211)

72 h, NOELR (Desmodesmus subspicatus): 14.9 mg/L (OECD 201)

Based on the data above, Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl, oxime, branched (CAS 174333-80-3) is not considered to be rapidly degradable. The bioaccumulation potential is low. Acute aquatic toxicity was observed to be above 1 mg/L. Valid chronic data are available with a NOELR (72 h) of 14.9 mg/L for Desmodesmus subspicatus, a 21d-NOEL of 0.189 mg/L for Daphnia magna and a 34d-NOEC of < 0.1 mg/L (= 0.00427 mg/L) for Danio rerio. Therefore, Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl, oxime, branched needs to be classified and labelled as environmental hazard Chronic Cat. 1 (M = 10) according to the 2nd ATP of the Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (CLP).
