Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -80 °C
Atm. press.:
> 990 - < 1 020 hPa

Preliminary test:

The test item was heated at a rate of 20°C/minutes from 17°C to 26°C. At this temperature, the test item lost 70% of his weight.

Main study:

Five experiments have been performed until -90°C, no crystalisation of the test item have been observed during the DSC experiments.

So an additional tests were conducted. Two samples of test item were stored for 23 hours in a freezer at -20 and -80°C under a flow of nitrogen. After these storage, the test item still was a liquid. According to these results, it was conclued that the freezing temperature of the test item is < -80°C.

Conclusions:
The freezing point of the test item is <-80°C
Executive summary:

The freezing point of the test item was determined with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 102,EU Method A.1 and EPA OPPTS 830.7200). The test was GLP compliant and no deviations from the guidelines have been observed during the test.

Based on the results obtained with the DSC method, storage at low temperature have been performed (no guideline followed) to further investigate on the freezing point of the test item.

No crystalisation was observed during the DSC experiments neither after storage at -80°C.

Therefore, the freezing point of the test item is considered to be < - 80°C.

Description of key information

The freezing point of the test item was determined with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 102,EU Method A.1 and EPA OPPTS 830.7200) and GLP and storage at negative temperatures .

No deviations from the guidelines have been observed during the test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The freezing point of the test item is <-80°C.
