Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In a CO2/DOC combination test under enhanced test conditions according to ISO DIS 9439 using amantadine hydrochloride a biodegradation of less than 10% was determined after an exposure period of 60 days (BASF SE, 2012). Additionally, tests on the inherent biodegradability are available for an aqueous solution of adamantyltrimethylammoniumhydroxid (BASF AG, 2007), an aqueous solution of N,N,N-trimethyl-1-adamantanaminium sulfate (BASF AG, 2008) and for 1 –adamantyldimethylamine (BASF AG, 2007). In all tests an elimination from water of less than 10% was observed during the exposure period. Therefore adamantan and its derivatives have to be considered to be not biodegradable.
