Fire-fighting measures

SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING AGENTS:
Water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING AGENTS:
Not described.

SPECIAL HAZARD ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE:
Fire may cause evolution of carbon oxides (CO, CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS:
Wear standard protective equipment and self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary.
Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately; it must not enter the drains.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing dust. Ensure adequate ventilation.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS:
Advice shall be provided on any environmental precautions to be taken related to accidental spills and release of the substance or mixture, such as keeping away from drains, surface and ground water.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP:
Pick up and arrange disposal without creating dust. Sweep using a shovel and keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
For large amounts: Dampen, pick up mechanically to an appropriate container for disposal.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING:
Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Use appropriate respiratory protection.

Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at workplaces.

PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT:

EYE AND FACE PROTECTION: Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).

HAND PROTECTION: Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices.
Wash and dry hands after handling the product.
The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

OTHER SKIN PROTECTION: Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concentration and amount of dangerous substances, and to the specific work-place. The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: For nuisance exposures use type P2 (EU EN 143) particle respirator. For higher level protection, use type ABEK-P2 (EU EN143) respirator cartridges. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

HYGIENE MEASURES: Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as wash hands thoroughly after handling. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants. Discard contaminated clothing and footwear that cannot be cleaned. Practice good housekeeping.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY: Stable under recommended storage conditions. See handling and storage.

CHEMICAL STABILITY: Thermal decomposition >235ºC.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS: Strong oxidizing agents.
