First-aid measures

- After inhalation: Keep patient warm and at rest. Move to fresh air. Call a physician or poison control center immediately.

- After skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. Call a physician or poison control center immediately.

- After eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Call a physician or poison control center immediately.

- After swallowing: Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Rinse mouth.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing agents: Water spray, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam, Sand

- Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases: Hydrogen chloride (HCl), Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid), Carbon monoxide (CO), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Sulphur oxides

- Protective equipment: In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus

- Additional information: Contain the spread of the fire-fighting media. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

- Person-related safety precautions: Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces. Use personal protective equipment.

- Measures for environmental protection: Do not allow to get into surface water, drains and ground water.

- Measures for cleaning/collecting: Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder). Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with  REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4).  Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

Personal precautions while handling the product:

- respiratory protection: If product is handled while not enclosed, and if contact may occur: Wear a compressed air respirator (continuous air supply) conforming to European norm EN270 or EN139 or equivalent or an organic gas and vapour filter mask (protection factor 20) conforming to EN136

Type A filter or equivalent. Respiratory protection should only be used to control residual risk of short duration activities, when all reasonably practicable steps have been taken to reduce exposure at source e.g. containment and/or local extract ventilation. Always follow respirator manufacturer's

instructions regarding wearing and maintenance.

- eye protection: Wear goggles conforming to EN166 (Field of Use 5) and faceshield conforming to EN166 (Field of Use 3).

- hand/skin/body protection: Solvent-resistant gloves. Wear standard coverall and type 3 suit. Wear two layers of clothing wherever possible. Polyester/cotton or cotton overalls should be worn under chemical protection suit and should be professionally laundered frequently.

- Hygene measures: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Keep working clothes separately. Wash hands immediately after work, if necessary take a shower. Remove soiled clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).

- Advice on safe handling: Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation.

- Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only.
