The toxicity of UMA 121 to microorganisms was tested in a toxicity control during an inherent biodegradation study (OECD 302 C). As stated in the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, data from biodegradation studies using inherent degradability tests can be used to assess the toxicity of the test item towards microorganisms. At the test item concentration of 30 mg/L biodegradation in the toxicity control reached 58.4 - 64.3% after 14 days and 62.3 - 64.3% after 28 days. Thus, the test item can be assumed not to be inhibitory to activated sludge microorganisms, and the concentration 30 mg/L is used as NOEC. This approach is in accordance with the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, ECHA 2012).

Additionally, a study conducted with HPMA reports an EC10 of 1140 mg/L for Pseudomonas putida. Although no detailed documentation is available for this substance, the result supports the lack of toxicity demonstrated by the toxicity control.
