Modifications to the EU A.16 Method: A heating rate of 0.6 deg C/min is used instead of 0.5 deg C/min due to the technical restriction of the apparatus used. A special temperature-programmed oven, known as Grewer oven and comercially available at Kuhner AG, Switzerland, is used. The oven is equipped with thermocopules and may contain 6 cylindric open top wire baskets with 0.2 mm openings. The temperature of the oven and of the samples can be monitored. One wire basket is fillde with the substance, a second wire basket with graphite as a temperature reference.

-The sample is heated from room temperature (about 20 °C) to about 215 °C. The sample shows endothermic melting behaviour in the range of 170 to 180 °C.

After the endothermic signal the sample temperature slightly surpass the reference temperature but the sample temperature does not reach 400°C.
