Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No acute toxicity effects to aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility (<0.52 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the short-term toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers (CAS No. 61788-89-4) to aquatic invertebrates was used as read across to Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. grouping of substance and read across approach. No short-term toxicity test to aquatic invertebrates is available for the test substance itself.

This limit test using Daphnia magna was conducted according to GLP and the OECD guideline 202 (1984) as part of the US HPV program (Kelly, 2002). No immobilisation effect on Daphnia magna was observed at the tested WAF loading rate (NOELR > 1000mg/L nominal).

Thus, based on a read-across approach it is concluded that the result also applies for Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) and therefore this substance also shows no acute toxicity effects to aquatic invertebrates up to the limit of water solubility (< 0.52 mg/L).
