Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2017_04-11
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
ASTM E 537-02
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM E 537-02
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Boiling pt.:
>= 260 - <= 450 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 260 - <= 450 °C
Remarks on result:
other: In air oxidation occurs before boiling, an exotermic effect with an onset of 448K (175°C).

In air oxidation occurs before boiling, an

exothermic effect with an onset of 448 K (175 °C). In nitrogen the product showed a wide

endothermic effect with several peaks at temperature interval 533-723 (260-450 °C) which can be

interpreted as both boiling and decomposition of the product; boiling of the low Mw part, which

followed by decomposition of the higher Mw part. After measurement, the crucible had a yellowbrown

colour, indication of decomposition of the product during heating at the measurement

temperature.

Conclusions:
Both boiling and decomposition occurred simultaneously in nitrogen.
Oxidation occurred before boiling in air.
Executive summary:

Both boiling and decomposition occurred simultaneously in nitrogen.

Oxidation occurred before boiling in air.

Description of key information

In air oxidation occur before boiling.

In nitrogen both boiling and decomposition in a wide temperature interval (260 -450°C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment
