Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

All substances of the MDI category are (viscous) liquids under room temperature, except 4,4’-MDI, 2,4’-MDI and 2,2’-MDI which are solids. MDI Mixed Isomers is a liquid at room temperature as the combination of 4,4’-MDI and 2,4’-MDI is a eutectic system, which makes it a liquid with a melting temperature around 10°C. Addition of condensation adducts and glycol adducts also decreases the melting point and hence the MDI substances of all other subgroups are liquids at room temperature.
