Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give
oxygen. Obtain medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Hold the eyes open and rinse with water for a sufficiently
long period of time. Contact an ophthalmologist.
Emergency measure - Skin: In case of skin contact wash thoroughly with soap and plenty
of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. If material has been swallowed
and the exposed person is conscious, give water to drink.
Contact a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide.
Product arising from burning: Carbon oxides, halogenated compounds and other toxic gases.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment
and self-contained breathing apparatus with a
full face- piece operated in positive pressure
mode. Fight fire in early stages if safe to do
so. Containers at risk from fire should be
cooled with water and, if possible, removed from
the danger area. Do not let contaminated extinguishing
water enter into the soil, groundwater or surface waters.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Take up mechanically, having either surrounded and/or
absorbed the substance with absorbent material, e.g. sawdust
or sand. Fill into labelled, sealable containers. Use the
necessary personal protective equipment when handling.
Ensure adequate ventilation/exhaust ventilation.
Handling and storage
Handling: When handling observe the usual precautionary measures for
chemicals. Skin and eye contact as well as inhalation of
vapours must be avoided under all circumstances. The working
area must be ventilated, if necessary local exhaust
ventilation. Vent waste air via suitable separators or
scrubbers.
All workers will be wearing effective personal protective
equipment. For manufacturing areas, skin protection will be
provided in the form of standard overalls (EN 369/EN468)
along with i.e. nitrile gloves (i.e. EN 374, EN 455).
Chemical safety glasses (i.e. EN 166) will be worn, and if
required, a half-face respirator (i.e. EN 149). SNIF has
been updated accordingly.
If larger quantities escape, self-contained breathing
apparatus must be used. After contamination with product,
change the gloves immediately and remove them according to
relevant national and local regulations. Keep working
clothes separate. Change contaminated clothing immediately.
Wash hands before breaks and at end of work. Precautions
should generally be taken against electrostatic charges
according to the equipment used and the way the product is
handled and packaged.
Storage: Store sealed in original container in a cool, dry place.
Protect from temperatures above 50 °C. Protect against
direct sunlight. Keep storage area clean and well
ventilated. Vent waste air via suitable seperators or
scrubbers. Storerooms are to be maintained according to the
principles of a good industrial hygiene. Containers that
have been opened are to be tightly closed after use. Avoid
contamination of containers with the product. Keep away from
sources of ignition and oxidants. Precautions should
generally be taken against electrostatic charges according
to the equipment used and the way the product is handled and
packaged. Do not release contaminated water into soil,
groundwater or surface water.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Drums (200 kg) with PE liner.

Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Dispose at a suitable waste incineration plant in accordance
with the official regulations.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Amidol C2 is an intermediate for industrial use only and
will not be available to the public at large.
