Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If cough or other respiritory
symptoms develop seek medical attention immediately. If not
breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is
difficult, give oxygen.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes with copious water. Remove any contact lenses and
continue washing with running water for at least 15
minutes. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash materials off the skin with an organic solvent which is
not hazardous to human health, such as ethanol, and then
wash with further soap and copious water for several
minutes. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed seek medical advice immediately and show the
doctor the packaging or label. Do not give anything to an
unconscious or convulsing person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Powder or carbon dioxide for a small fire. For a large fire,
use foam.

Product arising from burning: If involved in a fire, toxic degradation products such as
carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide could be formed.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards.

For small spills, soak up with an absorbant material, and
dispose of by incineration in accordance with local
regulations.

For large spills, dike spill to prevent spreading and
incinerate collected spilled material in accordance with
local regulations.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent. Avoid
contamination of the soil. Avoid draining into sewerage,
drainage and surface water.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in confirmity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the
substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national stnadards as follows;

Chemical prtotective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be
used e.g. a dust mask conforming to EN149FFP1.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a minimu
m.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry location, away from sources of heat,
ignition or direct sunlight.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Steel 200 kg Drum, 585 mm outside diameter, 890 mm in
height. Inner surface of drum is coated with an epoxy resin
and a phenol resin.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration or landfill. In principle, it
may be possible to recover larger spillages of
uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (e.g. sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordances with local
regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes such as carbon
monoxide and carbon dioxide could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
