Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The hydrolysis half-life for the test substance ranges from 28.6 h to 30.3 h at pH 7 and 25°C; the mean value is 29.5 h at pH 7 and 25°C and this value will be used for risk assessment. The substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4 and 9. The hydrolysis products are 2-(3,4-epoxyhexyl)ethyl silanetriol and ethanol. A biodegradation rate of 28% in 28 days (O2consumption) was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP. This biodegradation is due to the biodegradation of the ethanol hydrolysis product, which is readily biodegradable (OECD, 2004). No significant biodegradation is expected for the silanol hydrolysis product. The chemical safety assessment indicates that it is not necessary to obtain further information on biodegradation via simulation tests in water, sediment or soil.
