Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: - Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition

seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: - Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: - Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: - Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: - Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: - Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and

sulfur oxydes as well as chromium oxydes.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: - Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: - Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and

impermeable gloves).

Solids:   Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place

in suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids:  Absorb using an adequate absorbent (eg. kiesel-

gur, sand, saw dust, kieselgel), collect and

place in suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste material in authorised incineration

facility.

Handling and storage

Handling: - Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If

the pure substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation

of dust and wear dust mask. Use equipment for handling

powders or other appropriate engineering controls. Avoid

skin contact and wear impermeable gloves.

Take precautionary measures against static charges.

Storage: - The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure

containers in adequate rooms at room temperature.

Avoid residues outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: - The commercial preparation is supplied in adequate plastic

containers.

Danger other than fire: - Not known.

Chemical reaction with water: - No dangerous reaction with water.

Dust explosion: - Not to be expected if handled under good industrial

hygiene practices.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Normal application results in the consumption of 100% by

irreversible binding to the aluminium. Therefore, it is

not necessary to propose any method for recovery/recycling

of the substance.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: - Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Code 661:

Incinerator with flue gas scrubbing.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - Code 641:

Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment

plant.

The dyeing process of aluminium will be performed in a

continous process. The concentration of the dyestuff is

maintained constant until the activity of the dye bath

requires a partial or a complete replacement. The dye bath

can be used several times before it has to be treated by

precipitation.

The following procedure is recommended to eliminate the

substance from the dye bath:

- precipitation with metal salts: the process is based on

a chemical precipitation of the dyestuff by forming a

trivalent salt of iron or aluminium following sedimen-

tation and filtration. The precipitate is discharged in

a landfill site or is incinerated.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: - None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: - Not applicable.
