Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If inhaled, remove patient to fresh air. If still having
difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Skin: Flush affected area with plenty of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon
andnitrogen together with hydrogen bromide gas and some
soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus and protective
equipment should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1.) Sweep and
shovel spill into empty plastic-lined, labelled containers.
Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Do not mix picked-up spills of different chemicals together.
Flush contaminated area with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Material should be handled with good ventilation. Contact
with skin and eyes should be avoided using natural rubber
gloves and safety goggles. Respiratory protection should be
worn if dust generation is expected to occur.

Storage: Material should be stored at room temperature in tightly
closed containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polyethylene lined drums (55 gallons), containing about
200-220 kg of the aqueous preparation.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: Organic powders if dispersed in air may form explosive dust
concentrations. The substance will be imported in the form
of a 50% aqueous solution, hence the possible dust
explosivity is not relevant.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery by mechanical collection (A611).

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Waste gas treatment to remove oxides of

nitrogen and hydrogen bromide should be fitted (A661).

Note that the material will be imported as a 50% aqueous
solution. In order to destroy it should preferably be
concentrated before incineration.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form
of photographic film, recovery from which is not feasible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form
of photographic film which can be disposed of as household
waste.
