Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and silicon.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Solid: Sweep up spilt material and place in waste containers

for disposal.

Solutions: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

For spills involving the 2-propanol solution of the polymer

avoid sources of ignition. Take up spill using an inorganic

absorbent (eg. dry sand, vermiculite or ground limestone).

Transfer to labelled metal containers and dispose of by

incineration in accordance with local regulations. Wash

spill site with water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic

chemicals.

Care should be taken when handling the 2-propanol solution

of the polymer. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Gloves and

safety goggles should be worn.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers away from sources of

ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Solid: Not supplied.

Solutions: The 2-propanol solution of the polymer is

packaged in drums (55 US gallon).

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas

treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and silicon should be

fitted.  (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Discharge into water is a recommended disposal method.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from tape in the public domain is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will only enter the public domain as a backing

on tape. The tape can be disposed of as domestic waste.
