Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Avoid inhalation of dust or aerosol.
Emergency measure - Eyes: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty

of water, if necessary seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of

water and soap. Contaminated clothing must be changed.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed, give the person profuse amounts of water to

drink. If he feels unwell, get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: water, foam, CO2, dry extinguishing agents

Product arising from burning: CO2, CO, traces of nitrogen oxides (based on the chemical

structure - no tests have been performed)

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Respiratory protection equipment and protective clothing

according to the fire situation.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Spilled powder should be taken up and should be stored in a

labelled container. (Spilled solutions should be taken up

with absorbent).

Measures must be taken that the substance cannot enter the

sewer pipes.

Handling and storage

Handling: When handling observe the usual precautionary measures for

chemicals. Skin and eye contact must be avoided. Suitable

protection glasses, clothing (cotton or polyester) and
gloves (rubber or neoprene) are recommended. Avoid
formation of dust during handling. Keep away from food and

drink stuffs.

Storage: Store dry in tightly closed container at room temperature.

The storage room must satisfy the general rules on good
storage management.

After use, the containers should be closed and stored, free

from residues on the container. Keep away from foodstuffs.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: plastic drum

Stability and reactivity

Chemical reaction with water: The substance does not react with water and is nearly

unsoluble in water.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The contaminated product may be purifed by recrystallization
and filtration. V178634 can be dissolved in ethanol after
addition of one equivalent of a base. The product is

recrystallized after acidification with acetic acid and
cooling by stirring.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: V178634 can be decolourized by adding sodium hypochlorite

solution. With water, the solution is brought to 10 pH and

is kept several days at room temperature until
discolouration. After neutralization and filtration over

active carbon, the solution can be drained off.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable unless after decolourizing and neutralizing.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: May be burned in a chemical incinerator for industrial
wastes.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Since the substance is not soluble in water and colours the
water very strong, draining should be avoided.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable.
