Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with running water for at least 15 minutes. Seek

immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing, wash affected parts with

water. Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: The substance can form an obstructing bolus in the stomach.

Do not induce vomitting and do not give anything by mouth.

Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Products of combustion may include nitrogen and silicon

oxides. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and

protective clothing when fighting fires. Alcohol/universal

foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder are suitable

extinguishing agents.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Soak up spill with absorbent material and dispose of by

incineration. Wear suitable protective clothing.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with skin and clothing, use goggles and PVC

gloves. Avoid inhalation of vapour (use a self-contained

breathing apparatus for high vapour concentrations). Wash

thoroughly after handling.

Storage: No special precautions, keep container closed.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Silane Y-9492 hydrolyses in contact with water to give

methanol and a siloxane gel.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery is not economically feasible

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Hydrolysis with water (minimum 10:1) to methanol and

siloxane. A large excess of water may result in a solution

of monomeric hexasilanol.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incinerate at a suitable licensed site. Waste gas scrubbing

to remove nitrogen oxides is recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recomended

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain
