Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush with water
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire normal extinguishing media may be used
(water, carbon dioxide, foam and dry powder). If involved
in a fire, carbon, nitrogen and sulphur oxides may be
formed together with hydrogen chloride and soot. A
self-contained breathing apparatus should be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect spilt material and dump in a licensed landfill site
or incinerate in a suitable plant.

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions for handling organic chemicals should
be observed.

Storage: No special precautions. Normally, the substance is stored
in closed containers in suitable rooms.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of over 90%
by irreversible binding to the fabric. Recovery for
recycling of the remaining substance is not reasonably
practical.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: On the basis of the base-set tests, the substance has no
hazardous properties and therefore, neutralisation is not
necessary.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a licensed landfill is permitted.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration in a suitable plant equipped with
flue-gas scrubbing, (for nitrogen and sulphur oxides and
hydrogen chloride gas), is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: It is estimated that less than 10% of the total quantity
used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as a
highly diluted solution. Dye-works should deal with this
waste water by installing prepurification plants. The
substance is not readily biodegradable.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
