Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate promptly with clean water for at least 15 minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water mist, carbon dioxide or foam extinguishers. Avoid

generation of flammable dust clouds.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may include hydrogen chloride, oxides

of sulphur and nitrogen, and possibly traces of dioxin-like

compounds.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear protective clothing and a self-contained breathing

apparatus

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Absorb spillages on sand or other absorbent medium. Sweep

and transfer to waste containers for disposal at approved

tip. Wash down area with water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Normal standards of good housekeeping. Avoid ingestion, skin

and eye contact and inhalation of dust. Respirators to be

worn if dust is generated.

Storage: No special precautions.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Not given, 6th amendment notification.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of the substance from minor spillages, discharges

to effluent or from dyed fabrics is not economically

possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Provided dilution occurs to a concentration of 100 mg/litre

or lower, no acute effect on aquatic life is likely to

occur.

The substance may be disposed of at an approved landfill

site.    (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance may be rendered harmless by incineration using

approved contractors according to the requirements of local

regulations and taking account of entry 2.3.4. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is unlikely to be appreciably degraded in

aerobic biological processes of short duration but is

unlikely to have any adverse effect on either aerobic or

anaerobic processes at sewage works. It is likely to be

removed to a significant extent by sorption on to sewage

sludge. The extent of the bioelimination (measured by extent

of colour removal) was shown to be 64.5% over days 3-25 of

the test. The substance is decolourised (76%) under

anaerobic conditions and thus part of it which may be

absorbed on to the sewage sludge is likely to be diodegraded

in a sewage works digester.

The substance is unlikely to present an acute risk to either

water purification systems or to aquatic life at

concentrations up to 100 mg/litre. In practice the levels to

be expected in aqueous effluent are far lower and also the

colour of the substance provides an effective control on its

discharge levels.  (A641, A642, A643)

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form

of articles which may be disposed of as domestic waste.
