Specific details on test material used for the study:
Expiry date 16 June 2020
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
364 °C

Results of the three consecutive tests were 389.4 °C, 363.6 °C and 370.5 °C.

Conclusions:
The relative self-ignition temperature of Brown 3 was found to be 364 °C.
Executive summary:

A certain volume of the test item under the assay was placed into an oven at ambient temperature; the temperature/time curve was recorded while the temperature of the oven was increased up to 400 °C, at a rate of approximately 0.5 °C/min. For the purpose of this test, the temperature of the oven at which the sample temperature reachesby self-heating is called the self-ignition temperature

Three replicate tests were performed. Results of the three consecutive tests were 389.4 °C, 363.6 °C and 370.5 °C.

The relative self-ignition temperature of Brown 3 was determined to be 364 °C.
