Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
28 September 2017 to 28 September 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
version 2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: The test item ignited, but the combustion did not propagate further. Therefore the substance is considered not to be flammable.
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Saccharomyces cerevisiae, lysate is considered not to be flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, lysate was determined according to the EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids)) and in compliance with the GLP.

The sample was filled into a mould and the flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train until the powder ignited. The test was performed two times. The test item ignited but the combustion did not propagate further. Based on the results of the preliminary test, no main test was performed.

Since the substance does not propagate combustion, it is considered as not flammable according to CLP criteria.

This flammability study is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements of the EU method A.10.

Description of key information

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, lysate  is considered not to be flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The flammability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, lysate was determined according to the EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids)) and in compliance with the GLP.

The sample was filled into a mould and the flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train until the powder ignited. The test was performed two times. The test item ignited but the combustion did not propagate further. Based on the results of the preliminary test, no main test was performed.

Since the substance does not propagate combustion, it is considered as not flammable according to CLP criteria.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item ignited, but the combustion did not propagate further, therefore the substance is considered not to be highly flammable.
