Conclusion on classification

Short-term toxicity tests for daphnia and algae are available for the substance. The EL50 and ErL50 are 9.73 and 8.59 mg/L, respectively. Based on the lowest EL50 for algae, the substance does not need to be classified for acute aquatic toxicity according to Table 4.1.0 (a) of CLP.

As only one reliable long-term toxicity endpoint is available, for algae an ErL10 of 5.64 mg/L was derived, chronic classification needs to be derived on both acute and chronic data, and the worst case should be taken.

Based on the ErL10 value, the substance does not need to be classified for chronic toxicity. In addition, the substance is readily biodegradable, however has a log Kow of 5.2 and the acute toxicity value for the other trophic level is 9.73 mg/L (invertebrates) which would lead to classification Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411).

Based on the available aquatic toxicity studies with algae and daphnids, the substance needs to be classified for the environment as Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411) according to EU CLP (EC 1272/2008) and its updates.
